The facelift Mk2.5 was unveiled in 2001 and brought about minor detail changes throughout the car. These included upgraded engines with variable cam timing, chassis strengthening, interior and equipment upgrades and redesigned bumpers and lights. Small but significant changes kept the MX5 competitive until the Mk3 (NC) was introduced in 2005.
