The Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II DTM won a total of 16 out of 24 DTM races. It was the most successful year for the car, which was based on the road-going Mercedes-Benz W201. The Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II lined up in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) from 1990 to 1993 and in 1992, Klaus Ludwig drove the car to Mercedes-Benz’s first DTM title. A total of 500 units of the “Evo II” were produced for regular road use in 1990, in line with the DTM regulations at the time, stating that the competing cars must be derived from a series production model.
